Rebecca is very excited to be a part of the Yavneh family teaching first grade and middle school theatre. Prior to joining Yavneh, she served as the J-Camp Director at the OFJCC in Palo Alto, running summer and year-round camp programs. She has spent many years working in camps and educational institutions with elementary aged children helping them to instill a positive sense of self, develop meaningful relationships and grow together as a community. She loves that she can bring her camp ruach (spirit), enthusiasm, and emphasis on interpersonal connection to the Yavneh community.
Rebecca is a proud Gator from the University of Florida where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, English, and Communications. She also attended New York University and received a Master’s Degree in Education and Jewish Studies. During graduate school she began a special focus on facilitating meaningful, nuanced, and engaging Israel Education through her training and work with the iCenter, as well as her numerous Israel immersive experiences including the year-long Otzma program. Her graduate training and experiences working with youth have helped her create an integrated, learner-centered curriculum that allows her to teach to each student uniquely. She is excited to be leading kitah alef this year to help each student grow and connect throughout the year. She is also very excited to continue her role leading performing arts in middle school. The students’ enthusiasm and dedication to every aspect of the play (on the stage and behind the scenes) has been extremely rewarding. She looks forward to another play this year! In her free time she enjoys all the active adventures of California, as well as singing and dancing to her favorite tunes.
