Kitah Alef had a great time exploring marine life at the Marine Science Institute in Redwood City. Everyone got to get their hands dirty sorting through the mud at the bottom of the bay and touching lots of fish. The Chameleon Goby and the Leopard Shark were the class’s favorite fish. The goby was super soft, and the shark was a bit scary but cute. Many students conquered their fears and made a new Leopard Shark friend. The Star Flounder looked just like he was wearing a Pharaoh’s hat. Adam named him Pharaoh Fish! They imagined that Pharaoh Fish would order around the small but mighty Penny Bubbles the Fifth, a tiny Topsmelt Fish.

The students worked together with other visiting students to catch their own fish in the bay with a VERY large net! They were hoping to find a Christmas tree that a previous group had caught, but they did find it exciting to catch a family of fish, Spongebob-like sponge, and sea grapes (spoiler alert: they don’t taste like regular grapes). At the end of the day, we ate lunch with a beautiful view of the bay. The surprise rainstorm we encountered while eating added a fun adventure to the end of our trip.

A huge Kol Hakavod to our incredible Kitah Alef students for shining so brightly at their milestone ceremony last week! Your hard work and dedication truly showed, and we are so proud of you. Kol Hakavod as well to all of you for the love and effort you put into creating such beautiful siddurim
